Extra Oral Elastics

Extra Oral Elastics  are rubber bands frequently used in the field of orthodontics to correct different types of malocclusions. The elastic wear can be worn from 12 to 23 hours a day, either during the night or throughout the day depending on the requirements for each malocclusion.

Extraoral Elastics are anchored from facebow to high pull strap. These elastics are thick and strong and supplied as :

• LIGHT Force – 8 Oz
• HEAVY Force – 14 Oz

The heavy pull elastics are also called JUMBO ELASTICS.

The elastic should be worn continuously at all the time except meals if not indicated otherwise. When worn continuously they exert continuous force and produce favourable tooth movement with least discomfort to the patient and minimum tooth loosening and damage to the investing tissues.

Penta Ortho Extra Oral Elastics are manufactured from the finest surgical grade natural latex rubber to ensure reliable force delivery. Extraoral elastics are used to produce forces for correcting different type of malocclusion.

• Size – 1/8″ / 3.2mm indicates the diameter of the inner lumen size of the elastic without it being stretched.
• Force – It is given in ounces or grams. 4.5 Oz / 126g indicate the force delivered if the elastic is stretched 3 x its size.

INDICATION

• To reinforce anchorage in a case where an extraction has been done.
• To correct midline deviation and allow buccal movement of backward-tipped lower incisors.
