Periosteal elevators are mainly used to lift full thickness soft tissue flaps. The tips require protection and need to be kept very sharp otherwise shredding of the flap can happen. The most common types in use is the double ended periosteal elevator used during minor oral surgical procedures.

Flaps make it easy to visualise the area of interest during multiple extractions. It is a double – ended instrument with one rounded , blunted end & other end is sharp pointed. The rounded edge of the Molt 9 periosteal elevator minimises the tearing of tissue when lifting the gum flap. The sharp end makes the initial lifting of the flap easier.
